FAQ
1. How do I register?
Simply call or email with your preference of week(s) according to the listed available weeks on the website. In some cases, your preferred week may be full or cancelled due to schedule conflicts. After you reserve your week, DCC will mail you a registration packet, with forms and information for the program.
2. When do I need to pay my deposit?
The deposit may be mailed back with the forms you receive in the registration packet, or you may opt to pay by credit card. Forms and deposit are preferred at least two to three weeks in advance. If your church or governing body wishes to be invoiced, please indicate at time of reservation.
3. How do I find out how much my insurance carrier will cover toward the program cost? Coverage varies for different carriers and denominations.
DCC can ascertain an approximate coverage amount with a faxed copy (front and back) of your insurance card, your birthdate, and your Social Security number (birthdate and SSN may be given over the phone). We will call your plan and get back to you within a day or two.
4. Do you take major credit cards?
Yes. Information on the card may be taken over the phone, and we will need card carrier’s address and zip code.
5. Are there any evening sessions during the Five-Day Program?
Intentionally, no. The participants often need this free time to relax with others over dinner, or to reflect on their day and prepare for the next day’s sessions.
6. I’ve had a comprehensive physical and blood work-up recently, do I need to participate in this part of the program?
The fitness physical is an opportunity to ask the physician any questions you may have, and to clear you for the physical training in the program. You do not need to have the blood work – there is an initial medical survey within the registration packet to indicate this.
7. How many participants will be in my group, and are they in similar situations?
The groups do vary in size from 3 to 6. The participants vary in age, church settings, denominations, and reasons for attending, including renewal, personal or career changes, and needed retreat time. You may find someone in a similar situation, though each pastor or church professional brings their own uniqueness to the program.
8. Do I need a car while here?
It is convenient if you like to discover new areas, or enjoy dining away from your hotel area. Often, the participants have meals together once they get to know one another, and downtown Davidson offers several nice restaurants for those who enjoy walking. The DCC staff is able to arrange shuttles during office hours.
9. Can you provide any references for your program?
Most past participants enjoy speaking with those desiring referrals; DCC will contact them for you, as we must follow HIPAA requirements for privacy. Any of the staff would be happy to speak with you about any facet of the program.
10. Is the program appropriate for clergy in non-parish settings?
Yes. Each group session discusses each participant’s current setting, and offers feedback. DCC has hosted chaplains, missionaries, retired pastors and those between calls.
11. My governing body has suggested I attend. Does DCC communicate with them regarding my week there?
Only if you indicate if the invoice should be sent to a specific person or committee. You and your individual counselor may work on a summary or plan that you may wish to share with your governing body. All records are kept in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
